Anonymous: I've seen some people have a problem with Richonne simply because Rick has kids. I have no idea why that would be a problem. It's not like she's going to all of a sudden sit around all day taking care of Judith. That isn't Michonne and I don't see the writers doing that with her character. Do you think that being with Rick would ruin her character?

signalfire15:

Lol, I have a feeling I know what this is in response to and I am right there with you. The thing that gets me though is that the person who said that Michonne would lose herself and be relegated to being a mother if she is with Rick… ships Dixonne. Like, I’m ALL ABOUT shipping Dixonne but I am not ALL ABOUT shipping Dixonne if you’re going to be hypocritical about it. DARYL DOESN’T HAVE KIDS. If he did, do these people honestly think that he would put Michonne before his children? Daryl can’t even put Michonne before Rick, Carol or Beth. So why would he choose Michonne over his kids? Also, HE’S NOT SUPPOSED TO. No man, NO FUCKING MAN, is supposed to put anyone before his children, NOT EVEN HIS WIFE. And anyone can fuck off if they tell me they would want their husband to save them over their children. THAT’S BULLSHIT and some fucking obsessive love that should be burnt with hellfire. That same girl seriously wrote a post one time about how she ships Dixonne over Richonne because Rick has his kids as baggage, like, hun, please, HIS KIDS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE HIS BAGGAGE. Michonne wouldn’t even LIKE or RESPECT Rick if he did not put his kids first. That’s the thing that made her admire Rick in the first place. Because it was the thing that her boyfriend couldn’t do for her son.

I just went off on a rant. Anyways, you know what that was about lol.

So to answer your question lol. No. I absolutely do not think that being with Rick would ruin Michonne’s character and I definitely don’t think the fact that Rick has kids would be any sort of disservice to Michonne if they were in a relationship. Michonne is IN THAT PLACE. She’s already THERE. She is already a MOTHER. She is a MOTHER WITHOUT A CHILD. If Rick was getting into a relationship with someone like Maggie or Beth or Rosita, then YES, I would say that it might not be the best thing for them. Because those women are not in that place. They are not ready for the life that being with Rick and his kids entails. They are not equipped with the qualities necessary to be a mother yet. But Michonne IS THERE. And that’s why I strongly believe that the writers have crafted Michonne as being the right one for Rick. Like that girl was talking about Rick having kids being a bad thing for Michonne but is she forgetting that MICHONNE ALSO HAD A SON. So how are Rick and Michonne any different? They’re not.

AND FUCK ME TO HELL IF ANYONE CAN TELL ME THAT IF MICHONNE’S SON WAS ALIVE, THAT RICK WOULD NOT STEP UP TO THE FUCKING PLATE AND BE A FATHER TO MICHONNE’S CHILD. THAT HE WOULDN’T LIVE HIS LIFE FOR ANDRE THE WAY THAT HE LIVES HIS LIFE FOR CARL AND JUDITH. THAT HE WOULDN’T RIP OUT A MOTHERFUCKER’S THROAT FOR TRYING TO HARM ANDRE THE WAY THAT HE DID FOR CARL. BUT WHO, WHOOOOO, ON THE SHOW CAN YOU HONESTLYYYY TELL ME WOULD DO THAT FOR MICHONNE’S SON BUT RICK?!?!!!! NO ONE. NONE. YOU CAN’T TELL ME SHIT. AND IF YOU DO, YOU’RE LYING TO YOURSELF. BECAUSE THERE IS NO ONE ELSE WHO WOULD DO IT BUT RICK. BECAUSE HE IS A FATHER. HE IS THE ONLY ONE WHO WOULD LOVE MICHONNE AND ANDRE IN THE WAY THAT THEY NEED TO BE LOVED BECAUSE HE IS THE ONLY ONE WHO GETS WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A PARENT. SO THAT GIRL CAN JUST STEP RIGHT OFF WITH HER ILLOGICAL BULLSHIT ABOUT HOW MICHONNE IS JUST GOING TO BE A MOM FIGURE AND LOSE WHO SHE IS. BECAUSE MICHONNE IS A MOM WHETHER SHE LIKES IT OR NOT. AND SHE WOULD HAVE BEEN A MOM WHETHER IT WAS RICK’S KIDS OR SOMEONE ELSE’S. BECAUSE SHE WAS A MOM BEFORE SHE EVERRRRR MET RICK. AND BECAUSE SHE’S ALLOWED TO BE A FUCKING MOM AND BE A BADASS AT THE SAME TIME!!!!!!!!!! AND BLACK WOMEN ARE CAPABLE OF BEING NURTURING AND PROTECTIVE AND AFFECTIONATE AND KICK ASS ALL AT THE SAME FUCKING TIME. AND THAT GIRL CAN STEP OFF WITH HER BULLSHIT ABOUT HOW RICK’S KIDS ARE THE WORST THING THAT COULD HAPPEN TO MICHONNE. BECAUSE IF IT WAS ANDRE, SHE WOULDN’T BE FUCKING SAYING THAT ANDRE IS THE WORST THING THAT COULD HAPPEN TO RICK. EVEN THOUGH RICK WOULD HAVE TREATED HIM THE VERY SAME WAY MICHONNE TREATS CARL. AND BECAUSE RICK HAVING KIDS IS WHAT MAKES HIM THE ONLYYYYY PERSON ON THE SHOW WHO COULD EVER FULLY UNDERSTAND MICHONNE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay, I’m done. Sorry for the second rant and the caps lol.

Anonymous: Do you think it's important for Rick to be with a WOC? Not just any WOC, Michonne obviously. But do you think that having a white male lead in a romantic relationship with a dark-skinned woman on tv will be an important thing?

signalfire15:

I think it’s important for the Television industry as a whole that Rick be in a relationship with Michonne. I think it’s important for THE WALKING DEAD to do it more than any other show. And I think Gimple and Kirkman are very, very aware of that. Because Kirkman said he knows how popular the show is and he knows that he has been given a huge platform because of that. And that he has a responsibility and duty to have as much diversity in his show as possible so that he can accurately depict the American population. And I believe that it has to be done on THIS show because this show is the catalyst for all other cable Television shows to follow. The show is so popular for a reason and I think the writers and producers are fully aware that a lot of the reason has to do with the fact that there are a wide range of characters, all different and have different stories and backgrounds and that allows for the majority of the TV viewing audience to relate and become invested. So, yes, YES, it is of the utmost fucking importance that Rick, the alpha male lead in the most watched cable show of all time, be in a relationship with a dark skinned black woman, Michonne. Not because the show needs to advocate anything or try to do something different or fulfill some sort of agenda, but simply because Richonne is in line with what the show’s biggest asset is. And that is an accurate depiction of America and it’s people and how wonderfully diverse and different we all are and how, at the end of the day, none of those differences matter because we all have to pull together when shit hits the fan. That’s what the show is trying to portray. What happens when the world is falling apart and all you have left is eachother. Color and class doesn’t mean shit. So TWD NEEDS to do it. And I bet they will. They’ve already done a wonderful job with Glenn and Maggie. I have no doubt that they will do Richonne justice.

That being said, although I think it’s important for the writers to make sure Richonne happens, that’s not the reason why I want them together. I just do because they make SO MUCH SENSE together. Richonne being a groundbreaking ship for American Television is just an added bonus ;)
